Hey Truman,

I've got a question.  In our groups structure, we've used the hierarchy to set up "master groups" that are essentially group categories.  For example we have a group called "Cell Groups" which serves as the category for one specific class of home groups we have.  Under that group hierarchically we have all our various cell groups, named by leader.  "Cell - Royer" or "Cell - Schelske" for example.

We mostly work with the sub-groups, since the "master group" is just a category to make the list look nice.

But I had something come up today that I expect will some up again.  I wanted to send out an email to everyone in all of our cell groups.  In the structure we have, I would have to compose the email within each cell group record, and send it to each group from there.  What I'd love to do do is to be able to use the "master group" to send the email to everyone in all the hierarchically subordinate groups.

I went in to do this, thinking I'd just add group members based on the "member of " check box that I've seen somewhere, I think in the main email campaign tool, maybe.  But when I went to add group members to this master group, there was no such option and it looked like I would have to manually enter all the members of all the cell groups into this one master group.

So, here's the question.  Is there any current way to do what I want to do?  And then, would it be possible to add to the "Add Members" Panel One control that would allow me to search by groups?

Thanks.

Marc

Hey Marc,

I'm happy to to report that you can do this in Ascribe. First go to the parent group. Create an email campaign. When you get to the form for selecting recipients, under the Group Member Type condition box, check "Include members of sub-groups". This should allow you to include sub group members to the email.

Thanks for the best wishes for my wedding which is 9 hours!

God bless,
Truman

Aha!  So I don't have to add the people from the subgroup to the master group in any way.  Great.  Thanks for the pointer.

Have a great day today!
