Standing Orders & Giving Statements

Hi
In the UK and Ireland a lot of members give via standing order, and I was wondering if this could be added to the list of payment types.
Also I don't seem to be able to find my giving summary when I log into my profile in the members area even though I've got the function enabled in the admin section. The pdf report that I get when logged in through the admin function has only my wifes name on it and not mine. I had been allocated to another organisation that I'd been testing in the back office, so don't know if this might have messed up my status somehow?
Thanks

Hi Justyn,
Go to Admin > Languages and select the money_contribution file to edit. Scroll down to the area of the form where you start to see "cash", "check", "goods", "credit card". You could edit the text label for let's say the "stock" contribution type to "standing order". Then it will be available in the list of payment types.
Regarding your contribution statement, it seems that the household name for your household is set to your wife's name. This is because you probably weren't in the household at one time. You had mentioned that you were part of another organisation. So when the giving summary was generated it used the household name which is your wife's name.
To fix this there are two methods:
(1) Edit your record to change your name to something else (perhaps a mispelling), save, edit your record back to your correct name, and save again. Every time the name of the head of household or spouse in the household changes, Ascribe will rename the household name according to the names of the head of household and spouse.
(2) Open up the household edit form. Change the household type to something else other than "family" (e.g., business or church). This will reveal the "Organization Name" field. You can set the "Organization Name" to whatever you like, such as "Justyn & Josie Pride". Then set your household type back "family" and save the form.

Sorted. Thanks my name now appears on the summary. Am I supposed to be able to access the giving summary through the members login area? I don't seem to see a link to be able to do this although I've got the 'publish giving summary' ticked in the members area setup.
On a related note (ie the members area), I don't seem to be able to edit my wife or sons details in the members area even though I am the head of household. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Have just noticed that I don't seem to have the 'member directory' in the members area either.
Thanks

Hi Justyn,
I examined the "Jimdo/Saoirse" skin. The extranet template must include the {sub_nav} to see the appropriate links to the member directory, your profile and giving information.
I've added the {sub_nav} placeholder and published the skin. Now the links show up in the members area.
The sub nav menu styles need to be assigned. In the skin, click on the "Menu" icon. The sub menu area allows you to choose which styles in the CSS style area correspond to the appropriate states of the menu. Note: this form is flawed unfortunately. I need to upgrade this form.
Alternatively, you can use pure CSS to style the sub nav.

Star! Any thoughts on being able to edit the details of the other members of my own household? I don't seem to be able to do this.
Also would it be possible to edit the details of people, and add new people, that are in the same organisation / church as yourself if you'd been allocated to a specific organisation? Would you also be able to edit the organisations details?
Thanks each reply is so helpful in understanding the system.

Hi Justyn,
I have been planning to add the ability for heads of households and spouses to be able to edit records of their children. This is not yet currently possible.
I had not thought to let the heads of household edit the records for anyone in their household, but this seems valid.
I have also been thinking that heads of household and spouses should be able to add people to their household (e.g., their children).
I hadn't thought about allowing people allocated to organisations (not a family) to edit the organisation details and add people to the organisation.
What are your thoughts (and example scenarios) on this as to why you would want that functionality.
Thanks,
Truman

That's ok.

Glad I could be of help with a suggestion. I guess it might be helpful to give the admin of the system the option of whether they would want to allow their users to be able to do this? Also head of household should probably cover the spouse as they might be more active on updating the info!
I have also been thinking that heads of household and spouses should be able to add people to their household (e.g., their children).
That would be a useful function. Again allowing the admin to allow to disallow this for their system would be useful.

I guess my thinking on this had been trying to understand the whole organisation / church/ not profit function in Ascribe. I could see a group of churches / organisations being able to make use of the system for their own membership, and therefore each organisation would need to be able to update their own information, which would tend to be done by the head of the org, or delegate person.
I hope my feedback has been helpful for you.
Regards
Justyn
