Audio Upload
«
on:
June 11, 2008, 05:12:04 PM »
Hi,
Lately, uploading audio to our sites skin directory hasn't been working. The file that I have been trying to upload is in WMA format. They've worked in the past. The upload will take a long time and when the page refreshes, the file doesn't show up.
Is this happening because the file is too big? (This audio a longer than the other audios)
Would it be my internet connection?
Thanks

Hi Janell,
It could be that the file size is too big. How large is it?
You could also try using an FTP program such as listed here:
http://www.google.com/search?q=ftp+program&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Hey,
Thanks I'll try the FTP. A friend recommended that I try to upload the file as an MP3. I have been ripping the audio from the message CD via Windows Media Player. If I download a WMA to MP3 converter, Would this method be faster to upload?
Thanks

Hi Janell,
You could compare the file sizes between the WMA and MP3 versions to tell which is smaller. Can you rip the CD in Windows Media Player directly to MP3? I know you can use iTunes to do that.

Hi
Ah well. I'll try the FTP Method. I tried the MP3 conversion method, but it did not work. My internet has become slower lately so I'll try again when the internet is fixed.
My friend is helping me with my internet problem and he would like to know, if we could, how big the average site account is?
Thanks

Hi Janell,
I did a quick search and found some instructions on how to rip a CD to MP3.

Hope that works,

Hey,
The audio works now but we got an email saying that our site's 99% full. I deleted old files but now the publishing of the site doesn't work and we would like to change some information on the main page. Is the site still full? What else would I need to delete? We would like to at least have 10 audio files up at a time. Is that too much?
Thanks

Hi Janelle,
I see that you deleted about half a gigabyte of files. You should be fine.
Try using
Firefox 3
with Ascribe. The new site publishing feature is not working with Internet Explorer 7. This will be fixed in the future.
Let me know that Firefox works for you.
thanks,
Truman

Hey
I tried to upload and publish the site on my friends mac. I tried using Firefox and Safari. They both didn't work.
The uploading screen only displays that "0 of 28" has uploaded...
I'm still not sure whats wrong.
Thanks Janell

Hi Janell,
I'm checking on the problem. ... It's fixed now.
Some files that Ascribe needed were missing. I replaced them and now the publishing tool works again. Sorry for the inconvenience. I went ahead and published the site.

Hi,
For the past two weeks, we have been having problems with uploading our message audio. A page is created for the outines and thenits published, however, the publishing process takes up to 3+ hours and sometimes the login times out or just stops. As for the audio, I've tried to upload it as a WMA and then as a MP3 (it had worked for a while now) but now it doesn't upload or I have to do multiple tries. We only keep 10 sermons up at a time. Right now, the two pages for the past two sermons haven't published, its on the list for publishing and we can view it but when we go to the site, we can't go to it. Are these incidents happening because of Ascribe maintainance or upgrades?
Thanks

Hi Janell,
I tried uploading a small mp3 file to the skins folder in which you are keeping the sermon audio files. It worked with no problem. I was using this page:
http://www.ascribedata.com/pearlview/admin/skin.php?asc_ftp_a=ld&asc_ftp_rp=/public_html/admin/skins/PVHome/files/sermons&action=files&skin_id=5&asc_ftp_lm=thumbnails
Are you using that page or are you using an external FTP program?
I also attempted to publish the website using Ascribe's publish command in the Webpages module. It completed the publishing in about 20 seconds. Here is a link to the recent sermon page:
http://www.hopepearlview.com/TheLightOfTheWorld.html
Please let me know if you have any more issues?
Aloha,
Truman

Hey
So, Mozilla and Internet Explorer aren't uploading my sermon file. The sermon uploading process seems to take like 10 minutes and then it reloads as "File Not Uploaded"
I'm not sure why, It worked just fine last week and I deleted old files.
Thanks

Hi Janell,
Did you try using an FTP program as we discussed in this earlier comment?
