Hi

I'm wanting to provide away for our members to be able to login and download a contact directory as pdf of all our members. Being able to find these details via logging in at the moment is great, but I've found that people have been wanting something to download and printoff for their reference - ie have it by the phone.

has anyone encountered this and come up with a solution? It would be a great new feature, but I'd also like to get something up and running now ;-) I guess I could create a pdf myself and then make it available for download via a members only section of the site?

Thanks in advance for any comments

Hi Justyn,

Thanks for writing about this. This is a topic that has come up before. I was intending to create a PDF report for printed member directories. However, the project turned out to be a bit complicated when trying to accommodate higher resolution photos which is suitable for printing as opposed to lower resolution photos which are suitable for viewing on the web. I might eventually get around to supporting this function.

But for now, what you can do is do a HTML printer friendly report of members and then save to a PDF using your own program or print to PDF using a Mac. Then refer to the PDF file from a page in the members area.

Truman

Thanks for the helpful info. I'm playing with the export function as I type. It will definitely help me get something moving. I think the only things I would feedback, which I'm sure you'll know already  are:

1. it would be great for the system to be able to remember a report that you had created and saved before.

2. From my point of view having pictures in the report isn't a priority and so I'm removing that from the report.

3. I'd love to be able to resize the columns, or for the width of them to not change when you do a pdf print off. They seem to get narrower when I do it on a mac.

4. To be able to change the column titles would be great - for example I would not have organisations only households listed in our database and the column title is 'household or organisation'. Could I change this in the languages file?

I'll keep playing... ;-)

Regards

Hi Justyn,

Yes, I fully agree. There is another forum post on this topic. I plan to upgrade the report function to allow users to save report formats.

You can change "households or organizations" to just "households". Go to Admin > Languages and edit the household language file.

Truman

This is more of a feature request, but I'd move to be able to edit / remove the line in the html reports export function that lists the search/filter used. To be able to edit it the same as with the line about it would be great. Without that line I'd be able to use the pdf reports straight off for members.

Any thoughts?

Hi Justyn,

Thank you for the suggestion. I'd be happy to try to work this into the next Ascribe upgrade.

Kind regards,
Truman
