Editing access of events

Continuing to familiarize ourselves with the events module so we can use it more with staff and members. This is just a question about UI and efficient access.
I have an event that is in the system. It shows up in my portal. (See picture 99.jpg) I can see the event on the list. Wow. Looks great. So, I want to add some attendees or something. I click on the event and get taken to the event information. (See picture 100.jpg.) So, that's nice. But no place to edit the info, or add people. So where do I go from here? It's not clear. If I click on the "Back to full list" link I get taken to a graphical calender. (See picture 101.jpg.) But surprisingly this is not the same graphical calender as the one accessible by clicking the Events tab - even though it looks the same. Because when I click on the event in this list it takes me back to the event information that I already saw in step two above.
In order to edit the event it seems like I have to go Events Tab > find the event on the graphical calender & click > then edit the event.
It seems way more intuitive to me to have an edit icon and an attendees icon that appears right after the event listing on my portal page, much like happens in the database listings with the edit icon off to the right. If that's not possible, then could we have a set of these icons on the event information page? If that's not possible, then could the non-editable graphic calender and the editable graphic calender at least have some kind of indication on them of their editable status? The pages look exactly the same to me and I am always getting confused about why I can't edit my events.
I know how it's set up probably seems very logical and efficient to you since you created it. I know when I design stuff, I always think that my users are off base when they can't find things. ;-) I just want my staff to use this a lot, which means I need the technical hurdles and steps to be at a minimum.
Thanks for listening, and for sharing your thoughts.

Hi Marc,
Now that I see the screenshots, I understand exactly what you mean. I will work on this process.
Thanks for taking the time to write about it so clearly.

Hey Marc,
What I've done is to change the upcoming events module on the portal page to link to the editable event record page when the user (currently logged in) has the permission to edit that event. If the user does not have the permission, he/she will be directed to the non-editable page.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Truman

That seems like a great solution. Thanks!
