"Attending since" module not working

Truman,
I know you worked on this recently, but when I did an Advanced Search on April 25 using "Record created on is after March 25, 2005" as the search cirteria on our site, most of the 120 names did not come up with a date for "Attending Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay since" even though I put the dates in each week.

Some of the names that didn't include the date are: 
Richard Aglugub
Rinelyn Agustin
Darren Ah Chong
Sonya Ah Chong
Cora Alexander
Dennis Ariyoshi
Charles Berinobis

I am doing something wrong?

Hi Glory,

I'm not sure what is causing this problem. I just did a search for Record created on is after March 25, 2005 and Ascribe returned a list of 137 people including all the people you listed.

I did this search by:

1. going to the Advanced Search section of the Person Module
2. under Date Fields selecting "Record created on", "is after", and setting date to March 25, 2005.
3. click the "Search" button.

What operating system and browser are you using?

Glory, I just edited Richard Aglugub's record to mark him as attending since March 27, 2005. And it saved properly. Is this situation happening all the time or some of the time. Did you always use the same computer to do these entries?

I'm also curious as to how you use this information. If you are following up with people, then I suggest that you use the discipleship module. You can create a discipleship goal called "Visitor Welcome". Then when you create each new person as a visitor, check the "Visitor Welcome" discipleship goal on the new person form. This person will have this goal set for them when you save the form. Then if you go to that "Visitor Welcome" goal in the Discipleship module, you can view all the new visitors that need to be followed up. There are tools there to record notes about phone calls made. You can generate call lists for each week of visitors. You can manage various steps in the "Visitor Welcome" goal such as (1) welcome email, (2) follow-up phone call, (3) some kind of welcome event ...

Thanks for checking on this.  I'll work on your suggested way of using the Visitor Welcome module.  That sounds good since the "Record created" method includes people who gave an offering for the first time but didn't necessarily attend for the first time that weekend.  Your suggestion should eliminate that situation.

In answer to your other qauestions, I have used the same computer from some time in early March to input newcomers to help Markis out for a while. (Markis has started doing that again beginning last week.)  I only use Internet Explorer to input the names and create the report.

As you I shared with you earlier, the date of  "Attending since" shows up on some records but not others.  Since I enter the data the same way, it's hard to tell why one record would show the date and another wouldn't (at least for the untrained brain like mine!).

Thanks for the suggestion.  I'll work on that in the meantime. 

Is there a way to produce a spreadsheet type of report that would show the person's name, date first attended, then indicate if they attanded or are involved in various things like getting baptized, attending MiniChurch, Welcome Lunch, salvation, etc.?  We want to track the spiritual progress of newcomers to see if they get assimilated into the life of the church and grow spiritually. I can do it in Excel and manually check off each category, but it would be more efficient if we could track them as a group (such as everyone who attended for the first time in April 2005).

Hi Glory,

I'm not able to guess why the "Attending Since" field took some times and not others. I will do some extensive testing.

There is no way currently to generate the report you mentioned, but I will work on a way to produce one.

Hi Glory,

I upgraded the new person form to include the "Attending Since" field. This should make entering this field easier since you don't need to create the person and then edit him/her to add that field. Plus, if you check the "Remember for next new person" under it, it will remember that Attend Since date for the next person you enter. This will be helpful if you are entering a bunch of new visitors from the same service. Hope this helps!
