Domain not linking to the right page
«

Hey Truman,
I'm messing with the website integration stuff and I can't get over to our own domain for some reason. I have a page set as index.html, but when I enter the url:
www.bc3web.org
I get a directory listing instead of that page.
Am I missing something that I ought to be doing?

Hi Marc,
It seems to be a problem with an improper installation which is preventing web page publishing. I'll get on it and fix that.
thanks,
Truman

Do you think that's the reason for my skin & template problems, too? See

Yes, it's all connected. Let me work on it this morning and I'll let you know my progress within a few hours.

Thanks! That makes me feel so much better. I was getting so frustrated. I thought I was doing the right things, but I just couldn't get these functions to work. It makes so much sense that there's something behind the scenes not connected properly. I'll look forward to hearing from you. Thanks again for your prompt response.

Hi Marc,
I went to Admin > Application Settings and in the
Skins & Languages
tab, I changed the Default Skin for Internet and Extranet Pages to the new
BC3Members
skin.
Now all future, pages that you make will use this skin. Also, some reports will use the logo from this skin.
Also, in the skin's templates, I modified the URLs to the logo image to all use:
Code:
{client_private_url}skins/BC3Members/files/FacesBanner.png
The
{client_private_url}
placeholder properly inserts the correct preceding portion of the absolute URL to the image.
I added a couple test pages just to show you (you can delete those):
http://www.bc3web.org/test.html
http://www.bc3web.org/photos.html
The test page is just a static web page which is published to
http://www.bc3web.org/test.html
.
The photos.html page is a public database drive page. What Ascribe does is it publishes a page to
http://www.bc3web.org/photos.html
but really it is just a 100% frame showing the contents to the real database driven photo gallery published here:
http://www.ascribedata.com/bridgecity/photos.php
All of your database driven pages will really be published to the
http://www.ascribedata.com/bridgecity/
folder.
So all of your member login pages (i.e., extranet pages) are published there.
The reason why you were getting a directory listing earlier today at
www.bc3web.org
is that you only had database driven member login pages in your website being published.
That index.html was automatically translated to
http://www.ascribedata.com/bridgecity/index.php
.
That's where your members can login.
Be sure to go back and edit all the other pages you made to use the BC3Members skin.
Have fun!
Truman
p.s. I'm still working on fixing the skin publishing function.

One more question on this front. I made the changes you suggested and I can see the changes showing up now on the web pages. The only thing that doesn't seem to be updating correctly is the email template.
Here's what I'm doing:
I do a search for my last name, it pops up the three of us Schelskes. I hit the email button to create an email campaign to send to us three. I fill out all the stuff, I select "email" from the template drop down, and finish the process. But when I get to preview the email, the new logo that I set up isn't showing up on the email. I look at the code of the email template on the email campaign page and it shows that it's looking for logo.gif, but when I go to the email template in the Bridge City skin, I can see that I've set that to say Email-Header.gif.
Am I changing the wrong template?

Sorry for the confusion. Email templates are found in two places.
The email template in the skin governs the automatic emails sent out by Ascribe. These include password reset notifications, discipleship module notices and form module notices.
However, the email campaign module uses separate templates. When you go to the Email Campaigns module, click on "Show List of Email Templates". These are the templates that show up in that template drop down. So you could have different ones for different ministries or holidays. These templates need to only have one curly brace field placeholder:
Code:
{email_body}
{email_body} will be replaced by the contents of the
Email Copy
WYSIWYG editor.
