Finally, it's here. The new members area is ready for you to try. What is a Member Portal? It's a section of your Ascribe-powered website which allows your members to log in, register for events, update their personal information, search a member directory, download their personal tax-deductible giving statements and access ministry group tools for attendance taking, member management and more.

A simpler version of the Member Portal has been available on Ascribe for years, but this new upgrade offers much more. For an example of an Ascribe-powered Member Portal, go to:

The default home page of the Member Portal is a portal page showing recent photos, news, announcements, events and even a Bible verse of the day. This is all configurable by you.

Members that are new to the Member Portal can easily sign up online for an account, if you enable this feature. To try out the sign up form, look for the "Sign Up Now -- IT'S EASY!" link. As the administrator, you can configure this form to require activation by email, mobile phone or in-person activation. You can choose to manually approve of each online sign up if you want as well.

Once your member has a username and password set up, they can sign into the Member Portal. After logging in, the member will be given access to their profile page (which they can edit), the members directory (no need to print paper directories anymore), see which ministry groups they are involved in and even see any to do items they are responsible to take care of.

To set up your Member Portal, go to the Website Pages module and create a page of the "Member Portal" page type. Ascribe allows you to configure the Member Portal to your liking and see a running history of sign ups as they come in and logs of who signed in and when.

Also, new on Ascribe is the ability for each user to set the screen width that they want Ascribe to use. Have you ever wished Ascribe could show you more data at once? Perhaps you have a large screen and want Ascribe to make use of it. Just go to My Preferences and click on the "Screen Width" button. You can drag the slider to set your desired screen width.
